creative endeavors of Judy Tilley

+1

In August of 2009, my husband and I went to Winthrop, Washington to see the Heroes of Woodstock concert at the Winthrop Blues Ranch. Performing on an all day ticket were Ten Years After, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Canned Heat,  and Jefferson Airplane  emceed by Country Joe MacDonald. The photography policy was generous except for no onstage access.

Some of the best images I shot that day were of the various members of a cobbled version of Jefferson Starship: Cathy Richardson, David Freiberg and Paul Kantner.

A music industry contact forwarded them to David Freiberg who emailed me the following:

Thanks for forwarding those, Judy. You really got some nice shots.
You have a fine eye.

thanks,

On Thursday, April 20, four members of the this group (the above musicians plus Chris Smith on keyboards) performed at the Wild Buffalo in Bellingham, WA. A friend had mentioned the Saturday before that she had heard rumors that Jefferson Starship was appearing in Bellingham soon. I emailed David who responded quickly saying that they would be doing an acoustic set on Thursday. He set up me up with a +1 guest pass with unlimited photography. A friend accompanied me to hear “White Rabbit”, “Somebody To Love”, “Wooden Ships” and other classic songs. Someday, maybe the WB will get better stage lighting or at least learn to not use blue constantly but until then, Photoshop and Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 will have to do their magic.

Hi Judy,

Actually, I remember and had saved you great photos.  Paul, Cathy, Chris & I are doing an acoustic gig at Wild Buffalo House of Music in Bellingham THIS THURSDAY …. I’ll check on guest possibilities.
